Kate Fowler completed her fifth season as an assistant coach with the Bullets women’s lacrosse program in 2018.

Fowler was instrumental in arguably the best five-year period in program history, which saw the Bullets post a record of 94-15, win three Centennial Conference titles (2014, 2016, 2018), and win back-to-back NCAA Division III Championships (2017-18).

Gettysburg has tied the program record for wins (21) on the way to national titles in each of the last two seasons. A former collegiate goalie, Fowler’s mentorship has helped the Bullets finish fourth in the country in scoring defense in each of those championships runs. The team set a program standard with a goals against average of 4.79 in 2017 and last spring, Gettysburg led the entire country in save percentage at .599.

Over the last five seasons, Fowler has coached nine All-Americans, 24 all-region selections, and 34 all-conference performers. Gettysburg goalies have garnered all-conference status in each of Fowler’s five seasons on staff, including first-team recognition for Bailey Pilder ’19 in 2018. Pilder led all NCAA divisions with a save percentage of .608 during the 2018 campaign.

Fowler joined the Bullets staff following a two-year stint as an assistant coach with the women’s lacrosse program at Connecticut College in New London, Conn. At Connecticut College, Fowler had a hand in all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program’s day-to-day operation, including recruiting, strength and conditioning, and film breakdown. She oversaw the defense as well and coached an all-conference second-team goalie in 2013. Additionally, Fowler worked with the goalkeepers on the women’s soccer team and served as an intern within the athletic department, working with facilities and game management.

Fowler served as the head coach of the Nor’easter Club 2015 White/Grey Team in New Haven, Conn in 2012 and 2013. She was also the Goalkeeper Director at the Yale University Bulldog Elite Lacrosse Camp in each of the last four summers.

Fowler was a two-sport student-athlete at Hamilton, playing in goal for both the women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse programs. On the soccer pitch, she was a two-year starter in goal and finished her career with 131 saves, six shutouts, and a GAA of 0.89. She was the back-up goalie for the 2007 team which finished 16-2-2, won the Liberty League regular season co-championship, and competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

On the lacrosse field, Fowler was a three-year starter in Hamilton’s cage. The Continentals won the NCAA championship in Fowler’s first year as a starter and finished national runner-up in 2010. In 2009, Hamilton advanced to the NCAA semis. The Continentals claimed four Liberty League titles and posted a combined record of 74-8 during Fowler’s tenure.

Fowler was a three-time all-conference selection in women’s lacrosse, including second-team honors in 2010. She was also tabbed All-Empire Region Second Team in 2010 and she was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2008 and 2010. She finished her career with the school record for goals against average at 6.66.

Fowler graduated from Hamilton with a degree in economics in 2010. Noteworthy, she received her degree in a special ceremony held at Gettysburg College, which hosted the 2010 NCAA Championships. She was a member of Hamilton’s Dean’s List and she was awarded the Gelas Memorial Prize, which is awarded to the senior that has shown the greatest development in strength of character, leadership, and athletic ability.
